What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit our site. They let the site work correctly and remember your preferences.
Which cookies do we use?
Functional cookies (necessary)
Strictly necessary for the basic operation of the site.
These are not cookies but entries in your browser's localStorage. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.
gy_cookie_consent: Stores your cookie preference. Retention: 1 year
gy_lang_chosen: Remembers that you picked a language yourself, so we stop redirecting you. Retention: until you clear it
gy_no_track: Switches measurement off entirely for your browser. We use it so our own visits are not counted, and you can set it from the privacy page. Retention: until you clear it
On the private part of this site we also set two real cookies. You only get them by signing in there; an ordinary visitor never encounters them:
gy_admin: Sign-in session for our statistics panel. HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict. Retention: until the session expires
gy_cursus: Sign-in session for the course platform. HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict. Retention: until the session expires
Functional cookies do not require consent under article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive.
Self-hosted analytics: localStorage (only after consent)
These entries are created only after you click "Accept cookies" in our cookie banner. If you decline or make no choice, your browser stays completely untouched by this module.
gy_visitor_id: Random UUID to link your visits. Retention: 6 months (server-side auto-purge)
gy_session_id: Random UUID per session (30 min inactivity = new session)
gy_session_exp: Session expiry timestamp
You can delete them anytime from the bottom of our privacy page in one click.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js, ID G-Q8B51FCJLL) to measure site usage. Cookies set: _ga, _ga_* (max retention 2 years). IP addresses are anonymised.
Advertising cookies (Google Ads)
We use Google Ads conversion tracking to measure which ads lead to a request. Possible cookies: _gcl_*, IDE (DoubleClick).
Important: both of the above are only activated after you give consent via our cookie banner (Google Consent Mode v2). If you click "Essential cookies only" (or the × close button), these cookies stay blocked.
Third-party cookies
Web3Forms: when submitting the form, your request is sent via the Web3Forms API. Web3Forms sets no cookies on our site.
