Drone at a wedding

Drone footage of your wedding

A wedding photographer stands among the guests. I stand above them. One shot of the whole party on the drive, or of everyone together on the lawn, and you have something no photo taken at eye level can give you.

I work alongside your photographer, not in their way, and I never fly over a packed reception.

What to know in advance

  • Flying over a crowd is prohibited, even with a light aircraft. So I do not film a dancing hall or a packed reception from above. Outdoors, with the guests lined up for a group photo, it works, and that is usually the better image anyway.
  • A drone makes noise. During the vows or a speech I do not fly. We agree in advance on two or three moments that disturb nobody, usually the arrival, the group photo and the last light of the day.
  • The weather has a say. In rain or strong wind the flight does not happen. A wedding date cannot be moved, so I say this plainly up front: this is an addition to your photographer, not a replacement.
  • The venue decides what is allowed. If the hall sits in controlled airspace, for example near Brussels Airport, I either request clearance or tell you it cannot be done. I check that as soon as you give me the address.

What we usually film

The arrival and the venue

The drive, the castle or the farmhouse, the car pulling up. The shot that opens the day in your film.

The group photo from above

Everyone together on the lawn, seen from straight above. The one group photo where everybody is genuinely in it and recognisable.

The last light

The hall, the terrace or the tent at sunset. A minute of footage you will come back to most often.

What it costs

A drone slot at a wedding starts from 150 euros: I come out, fly the agreed moments and deliver edited photos plus a short cut video. If you want me to stay longer or fly at two locations, it runs up to around 200 euros. You get the price before you book anything.

Frequently asked questions

Can a drone fly over the guests?

No, flying over a crowd is prohibited. What does work: filming from a distance, with guests in frame but not underneath the aircraft, and a posed group photo from above at a safe height. I explain in advance what that means at your venue.

Does this replace my wedding photographer?

No, and I would not claim it does. A photographer captures the looks, the tears and the details. I deliver the shots from above that cannot fit in there. The two go together.

How long are you there?

Usually one to two hours, spread over the agreed moments. Being there all day makes no sense: keeping a drone in the air through dinner adds nothing and only disturbs people.

What if it rains on our wedding day?

The flight does not go ahead and you do not pay for it. I say so in advance, because a wedding date cannot be moved. For a short shower we simply wait half an hour, which often does the trick.
