For builders and roofers
Drone for builders and roofers
Surveying a roof with a ladder costs you half an hour and a risk. A drone does it in ten minutes, from the ground, and you have footage to show the client straight away. For builders and roofers who need that regularly, I work on a standing arrangement rather than job by job.
What it actually gives you
- For a quote: you see the state of the roof, the number of tiles, the chimney and the gutter before sending anyone out. That saves a visit and makes your price well founded from the start.
- On site: the same shot from the same point every month. Laid side by side, that is a progress record nobody argues with, and it is material for your own website.
- For solar panels: the whole roof surface in view, with the orientation and the shade from trees or neighbours. Enough to decide whether it makes sense before you draw up an offer.
- At handover: the finished result from the air. That is the image you keep using for ten years on your site and in your files, far longer than any one project lasts.
- Where it stops, plainly: I deliver footage, not an inspection report. What is visible on the roof, you will see. Whether a roof will last another ten years is for a certified expert to say, not me.
Who gets the most out of it
Roofers
Inspect a roof before quoting, and document damage for your client's insurance file.
Solar installers
Roof surface, orientation and shading in one image, so you know what fits before travelling out.
General contractors
Monthly site progress and a set of finished-result images for your portfolio.
Joiners and facade workers
Inspect a facade or dormer at height without erecting scaffolding just to take a measurement.
What it costs for regular work
A single site shoot costs 70 euros and a roof shoot 70 euros. If we agree a series up front, that drops to 55 euros per site visit and to 50 euros per roof from five roofs onwards. No subscription and no commitment: you call when you need me and pay each time.
Following a site
55 euro per visit in an agreed series
- The same angle every time, so you can compare
- Photos plus a short video clip
- Footage within 48 hours
- You decide yourself when I come out
Roofs for your quotes
50 euro per roof from five onwards
- Full roof surface plus detail shots
- Usually on site within the week
- Footage usable in your quote
- No fixed volume, you order per roof
Frequently asked questions
Can you tell whether a roof is still sound?
No, and I would not want to. I deliver footage on which you can see the state of things yourself: missing tiles, moss, a leaning chimney. The judgement is yours or a certified expert's, because that is where the responsibility sits.
May you fly over a site where people are working?
Flying over people is not allowed, not even with a light aircraft. In practice we plan around the break or just before the start, or I fly beside the site rather than over it. We sort that out on the spot.
How quickly can you come out for a quote?
Usually within the week. If a job cannot wait, say so: weather permitting, I will move it forward.
Will you work with the photographer we already use?
No problem at all. I do only what has to be done from the air and leave the rest to them. I supply the files in whatever format they ask for.
What about rain or wind?
Then the flight does not go ahead and we reschedule. In rain or too much wind the footage is unusable and the aircraft is not safe, so that is not up for negotiation.
Want a website that shows your work too?
I build websites for builders and tradespeople. A site with footage of your own projects convinces faster than one using photos pulled off the internet.

Tell me where it is and what you want to see, and I will tell you straight away whether it is possible and what it costs. Usually answered the same day.
